At the eastern end of Quiberon Bay, discover the ria d'Étel, an astonishing marriage between land and sea. Stretching over more than 22 km, this arm of the sea is home to small authentic ports, secret beaches and famous oyster beds...
La Barre d'Étel offers the beautiful spectacle of its underwater sandbank located in the extension of the dunes of Erdeven and Plouhinec and marks the entrance to the river. Here, considerable volumes of water are moved by the tides, causing violent currents. This sandbar, this “natural bar” is variable and can cause impressive eddies.
Opt for a boat cruise with Navix and enjoy breathtaking views of the Ria d'Étel! Or discover the Grand site de France Dunes Sauvages de Gâvres in Quiberon by bike, the island of Saint-Cado in Belz and explore the coastal paths along the Ria on foot.
Walk along the pier while enjoying the summer activities and go up to the port of Etel which was one of the largest tuna fishing ports on the Atlantic coast. Up to 250 dundees (sailing tuna boats) could be seen there which supplied 12 canneries in the region.
You can rediscover the history of the port and fishing by visiting the Thoniers Museum, and continue your walk by recharging your batteries in the beautiful Garenne garden.

The Ria d'Étel is the ideal place to practice river fishing and water sports offered by the Cercle Nautique de la RIa d'Étel, such as kayaking, sailing, stand-up paddle or even scuba diving. -Marine.
